DESCRIPTION
The contest involves creating sound design for the trailer of the first release from Know Buddy Games:
Shadow Hills Manor is a first-person horror experience that blends elements of psychological horror with puzzle-solving. The gameplay involves exploring eerie environments and uncovering the narrative through exploration and interaction with the haunted household. Remember, the manor is always watching…
The video file without audio can be downloaded at the link below. You are free to consider the original approach to the sound design but do not use any of the original sounds in your project. The developers are looking for fresh and impactful sound design that enhances the narrative.
Original Sound and Music
PARTICIPATE
- Log in to your Waveformer account as a Subscriber or Pro Member.
- Download the Shadow Hills Manor trailer (305 MB) (you must be logged in to access the download link)
- Create sound design for the video and export a new movie file (mp4) 48k/24bit and label the file:
- FirstName_LastName_ShadowHills.mp4
- Create a .pdf that details any notes you would like the judges to be aware of and the names of collaborators if any.
- Place the video file and .pdf in a zipped folder named: FirstName_LastName_ShadowHills.zip
- Upload your submission using the Waveinformer Google Form for Contest 5
TIMELINE
- Video available for download – Friday – November 9, 2024
- Submission Deadline – Friday – December 13, 2024
- Selection Process – December 14 – 20, 2024
- Winners Announced – Saturday – December 21, 2024
JUDGING CRITERIA
- Files delivered in requested format and specifications (see above).
- Sound design effectively enhances the narrative.
- Sound design elements are accurately edited and synchronized with the image.
- Although existing library assets are allowed, special consideration will be given to original content created for this contest.
- Unusual and creative approaches to sound design will also be given special consideration.
- While you may incorporate musical content in your submission, be aware the judges will mainly be considering sound design elements
- Submissions that use any audio content from the original video will be disqualified.
SELECTION PROCESS
Winners will be chosen by the Know Buddy Games developers and the Waveinformer Team and announced on or about: Saturday – December 21, 2024
